FAQs

When do club nights run for the 2023/24 season?

We run club nights on Friday nights, with the first club night being 6th October 2023. The final club night before the end of 2023 is 1st December. The next club night after the end of year break will be on the 2nd February 2024 and our final club night will be 22nd March 2024.

How much is membership for the season?

In an effort to boost membership at the club, for the 2023/2024 season, we are discounting membership to $99.00 per swimmer. This covers insurance, club nights, special events, ribbons, awards, trophies and a swim log book.

My child is not sure about joining Bellbowrie Swim Club. Is there a trial period?

New families are welcome to register for a “Bellbowrie Swimming Club Free Trial” membership on Swim Central (https://swimcentral.swimming.org.au/).  This allows swimmers to experience a BSC club night in the first two weeks of the season, before committing to membership.

When is the Club Championship date?

We will confirm the date of the Club Championship event soon, but we are aiming towards the end of the season, during March 2024.

Are swimmers competing against others?

Swimmers compete against their own times from week to week, the emphasis is on individual improvement and participation. At Club Championships, swimmers will compete against swimmers of the same gender and age, for medals based on place.

What time do Club Nights run?

We encourage families to arrive from 5.45pm, so that we can complete any last minute administration in time to start our first event at 6.15pm. This season, we are encouraging swimmers to nominate ahead of time via Swim Central to ensure we can start club nights on time. We aim to wrap up Club Nights before 8pm.

My child has never swum before at club, what event(s) should we nominate for?

It might be best to contact the committee before nominating (bellbowrieswimclub@gmail.com).  We encourage swimmers who have never swum at a club night before to try 15m first. If your swimmer is currently in stroke correction swimming lessons, but has never swum a 50m race before, we recommend starting at 25m. We use qualifying times to determine progression for swimmers to 50m races, and we share these times on our website. We encourage swimmers who can competently swim the qualifying time for those events to nominate for 50m distances.

Will there be food available on Friday nights?

The Bellbowrie Swimming Club runs a weekly sausage sizzle, raising money for the club.  Jac and the team at Bellbowrie Swimming Pool also have the cafe open up near the pool entrance with hot and cold drinks and a range of sweet treats and ice creams!
